Do you like gardening? Will you grow a garden with me?

"Not really. Plants are shockingly delicate. I don’t really see the point in carrying for something that doesn’t help me in anyway. Besides, most plants don’t grow in the dakr places I like to rest."

He sighed, hoping she wouldn’t care too much that the poor plant was now dying thanks to the rappigs.

Riful’s response was, of course, that she really didn’t care. She assumed it meant plants from her home would not grow here.

"Well, not exactly…"

Taking deep breaths, he brought his hands up to his face in an effort to calm himself down. It’s okay…she’s not upset…maybe thinking you’re a total idiot and klutz, but not upset.

Once he was a bit more together, he laughed nervously. “Well, I probably should get back to the palace, but a few more minutes would be okay…”

Readying his sword, he sighed. “You go first and hopefully my feet will cooperate.”

Valen was right that she thought he was a klutz. It was embarrassing how bad he was with his feet. He only had four limbs. Why was that so difficult. In her other forms, she had a lot more to deal with. Oh well. He was human. Maybe this had to do with the fact she was a girl.

"Alright. I’ll go up to the level I fought when I passed my graduation exam to become a full warrior."

Compared to before, her movements were a lot faster. She aimed several sharp jabs at both of his shoulders and his hips. She kept close, as if willing him to strike her.

Riful raised a brow. She was a little confused as to why he didn’t think his friends would be there. That was where everyone would go. Hanel was one of the few towns that still had statues of Clare and Teresa. They were disappearing as Rabona’s religion spread across the island. The statue was one of the nicer ones too. Maybe they were from Rabona and frowned on such things.

"I can help you try to find them, but unless you have a clue as to where they were going, I won’t be able to help you very much." Riful gestured for him to follow her she tried to leave the slums. There was a nasty smell here. Someone was trying to hide a corpse, it seemed. "I’ll get you to the main area. From there I can get you to any area of the town I know Hanel fairly well."

The abyssal one looked back to him. It was nice to have one as small as her around Maybe she could figure out what he was soon as well. “My name is Riful. It’s nice to meet you, traveller Aladdin. Can I ask you why you wanted to travel all the way up here? Are you just going to look around, or are you here for a specific reason.”

”Well…” He had absolutely no clue where his friends were headed. They were taking back routes and odd paths to get themselves back to Sindria without Al-Thamen detecting them, and though that should be easy enough, Gyokuen’s efforts to capture him had doubled over the past few weeks. Naturally, in response, his group had doubled its pace, but to make sure no harm came Sindria’s way, they went around in circles to lose Al-Thamen, which they managed to do, and henceforth were brought to this foreign land by said fiasco.

He saw no point trying to scare someone who knew not of Al-Thamen, so he kept his mouth shut and shook his head.

“I’m sorry, but due to a few circumstances, I’m pretty certain my friends have already left the city. They might come back when they notice I’m gone, but… some people are trying to pursue us so we have to keep moving. I would appreciate it if you could help me get back to the main road though, I need to follow suit.”

The unpleasant flow of rukh stopped him from functioning well as a frown settled rather comfortably on his face.

“…This place…” It reminded him too much of the slums in Balbadd where poverty and probably murder ran rampant. Deciding to focus on his companion and not the ghastly foreboding that emerged from the pits of his gut, Aladdin tried to smile once more.

It’s a pleasure to meet you, Miss Riful! To be honest, we were simply trying to lose the bad people chasing after us, and we managed to get separated; viola – here I am.”

Riful thought for a second that he had also smelled the scent of the dead person. She had been trying to avoid it and stay far enough away from the smell that a human nose could not pick it up. Perhaps this time boy was more animal than she had thought. That was a silly though though. There was also the possibility he was a rich man. That would explain the distaste. She never understood the rich. Riful was born into poverty and then was brought to a status lower than human before being turned into the monster she was today.

"If that is the case, I could assist you to the next town. The woods are filled with monsters, so it is dangerous for people not from the areas to go through the forest. The yoma in this area are abnormal. They work in groups and, of course, their mimicry of humans is perfect. We’ve lost a lot of merchants lately. That’s the price of living near monsters though."

She really was tired of the everyday yoma coming and taking all the merchants, but she had made is clear that they don’t attack the town. Enough dead yoma quickly turned them away. This wasn’t enough to sour Riful’s good mood. She placed her hands behind her head as they walked.

"Hopefully who ever has been pursuing you has stopped. Not many people come here. It’s peaceful compared to most of the little villages, but the journey here is dangerous. If the yoma don’t scare them away, then they would have to rather brave. I known of only one group of people who would risk such a thing. It would be a rather hopeless situation if they were the ones following you."

Riful thought to to an organization of her own. Alaldin was a boy, but he had companions. She knew the organization was very fond of girls with a special talent, like she had once had, and would create tragedies to recruit them. Even more so, if anyone found out their secrets, they would strike them down without mercy. Perhaps he was travelling with a deserter. That would make the most sense to her.

"Chomp!"

lionsheir:

My muse is chowing down on a box of pocky and your muse seems to have a sudden craving for the chocolate covered treat! (or perhaps my muses’ lips?~) Send “Chomp!” for my muse’s reaction to yours biting the other end of the pocky stick!

Valen bit off part of the stick of pocky and ate it before scratching the back of his head as he grabbed another stick and held it out to her. “You could have just said you wanted one.”

"If I did, then I would have gotten a whole one instead of just a taste." Riful looked like she was thinking "It tasted different than I expected. I don’t think I want another taste."

"You’re right, this is the slums of Hanel. It’s the absolute worst part. Strange, is it not? Most towns would have slums a thousand times worse, but Hanel is blessed by living under the queen of monsters. It doesn’t know war or bandits. Nobody would dare attack this place."

Hanel was Riful’s town. It was close there where her home town from three hundred years ago was. Because of this, she had made it her own personal hunting ground. She considered it both revenge and protection. No other monsters in the area could defeat her in battle, so they wouldn’t try to hunt here.

When she looked to the boy, Riful was quite surprised to realize that he was giving off an odd power. She sensed that much, but it wasn’t the same as something from her homeland. The creature of the abyss frowned. What an odd thing he was…

"If your friends are still around, they probably went to the centre of the town, by the statue of the twin goddess. That’s a common meeting place. I can show you there, if you’d like. I simply ask your name in return."

image

She showed the initiative to help him. She’s nice. What a relief. Confrontations were what he wanted to avoid the most. But still, the black rukh that were dancing around her sent alarm down his gut. He knew he should not let his guard down. But he also should not show open hostility, because that would bring about confrontation. As long as she was willing to be kind, Aladdin would respond in kind,

”My name is Aladdin. I’m a traveler. It’s nice to meet you, miss!” He offered her a polite grin, before bowing curtly. “It would be nice if you could take me there, if it’s not too much trouble, but I really doubt my friends would be there.” They were kind of avoiding the main roads, as Al-Thamen was everywhere. Even in the most unscrupulous of places.

image

”Still, it’s worth a shot… Which way should we go, miss?” He tilted his head at the question as he eyed her with expectation. Ah, of course, before he forgot. “I forgot to ask, may I also have your name?” If they were going to be together for a while, they might at least get to know one another.

Riful raised a brow. She was a little confused as to why he didn’t think his friends would be there. That was where everyone would go. Phew. The Prince was happy she diverted his sword just then. Riful was his friend after all, he didn’t really want to hurt her. Observing her next moves, he stepped to the left in hopes of not being struck as badly. His sword was moved to hover over and try to push her practice sword away.

Riful pressed against his blade, using more of her strength than she should to continue her movement. She hated the thought of being over powered. The abyssal one was fairly close to smacking him with the sword when she drew back., She needed to remember she was just playing. Riful moved back a bit to wait for him to make a move.

Taking a deep breath, he tried to focus as he thought up what to do next. After she moved back, he ducked low and attempted to sweep her off her feet with a soft kick. However, luck wasn’t on his side and he ended up tripping on top of her. His face landing in the worst possible location—her breasts.

It took a moment for him to realize what happened. Once he figured it out, he jumped up and ran across the room as if he were Guy around a woman.

Gulping, he blushed furiously. “I—I…” He paused to see if he could get his words together. “I’m so sorry, I-I didn’t me-mean for that to happen…”

Riful was ready to try and dodge his sweep, but it didn’t seem to work out right. She was too disappointed in him to even try to move away. She let him crash into her. Her expression was not a very happy one, but it was more about his clumsiness. Had this boy really been training for ten years?

His reaction to this surprised her though Riful pushed herself up and raised a brow It took her a few seconds to figure out what he though he had done wrong.

"It’s fine, Valen. I don’t mind. You didn’t mean to, and hey, it’s not like I care much about that area." She pushed herself back up to her feet and tapped her practice sword on the ground. "Is that it for the day?"
